Respiratory Protection Standard

OSHA’s revised respiratory protection standard went into effect on April 8, 1998. The new standard included several changes that affected our training courses. With respect to training, the revised standard changes terminology regarding “seal checks” and “atmosphere supplying respirators” and prescribes training regarding adherence to employer respirator maintenance schedules.

If you are a user of our “Respiratory Protection” (product code clresmpg) course, you can download a free course update to bring your course in line with the newly revised regulation.

If you are using “Respiratory Protection: Air Purifying” (product code strppmpg) or “Respiratory Protection: Air Supplying” (product code strpsmpg) you should upgrade your course to “Respiratory Protection” by October 8, 1998. If your courses are covered under the Extended Support Plan (ESP) you will receive a trade-in credit to upgrade both courses to the new single title covering both air purifying and atmosphere supplying respirators.
