Overview
This course provides step-by-step, through processes and procedures used every day by highly trained firefighters on the job. This course helps learners acquire vitally important technical knowledge and hands-on skills - safely and efficiently. Topics provides complete, detailed instruction in donning, doffing, maintenance, and care of all types of personal protective clothing. The use of self-contained breathing apparatus and the proper use of portable fire extinguishers to fight all classes of fires is also covered. Finally, the learner is instructed on how of safely use and care for ground and aerial ladders. 59 interactions actively involve the learner in the training. Lesson interactions provide the learner opportunities to apply what he or she has learned. The computer assesses the learner's level of understanding of all learning objectives. When the learner answers a question incorrectly the computer provides remedial instruction and reviews the material until the learner can answer correctly. All questions in this course are fully narrated. Narrations enhance comprehension and are welcome support for learners with reading skill deficits and when English is the learner's second language.
